Applying The Needle Clamp
The N-needle clamp is an important repair product, as this product can be applied quickly to prevent more damages when corrosion pits in a steam pipe occur. Corrosion pits are caused by a damaged oxide layer, which is initially applied to protect steel or other types of metal. How does the needle clamp, or pit-hole repair clamp, work when you have to repair a steam pipe? The needle guides the tip of the conical rubber to enter the corroded area. By tightening the plug, the rubber (NBR or Viton) sufficiently compresses to seal off the leak. The maximum working pressure is 2000 psi (138 bar).
